Free Style Award

The Sean McKinney Freestyle Competition was created to keep Sean's name, style, and energy alive in the juggling community. We hope that the competition will inspire jugglers all over the world to have the courage to find their own style and to challenge themselves to reach their fullest potential.

The competition will be held annually at various regional juggling festivals. Our goal is to bring Sean's competition to different parts of the country to allow as many jugglers as possible to participate. Information for the 2006 competition will be available here soon.

The winner will receive the Sean McKinney Trophy, which is a private commission created by artist Emma Hardy, of Jamestown, Colorado and cast by Tom Banwell. The beautiful trophy, made in Sean's image, stands 16 inches high on its base, and is posed in one of Sean's signature juggling moves.

The first annual competition was held on December 18, 2004 in Las Vegas at the World Juggling Federation Convention. The winner of this first competition was Bee Jay Joyer of Los Angeles, CA.

The preliminaries for the competition are open to any juggler of any age. For more information, or for rules for the competition, please visit our competition rules and guidelines page.
